Lindokuhle Mnguni
Lindokuhle Mnguni is a South African performer, writer, and photographer born and raised in Tweefontein (kwaNdebele), Mpumalanga Province. Her artistic journey began at an early age when she joined a community group called Siyanakekela Youth Center, where she featured in several shows, including. A Simple Life (2012) and The Village Ruler (2013), both written and directed by Sbusiso Mahlangu. She also starred in A Barren Woman, written and directed by Enock Themba Masilela, where she played a lead role.
Throughout her career, Mnguni has received numerous accolades. She won the 7th National Recite Your Own Poetry Competition in 2017/18, placed in the top 10 of the Wip & Vap Poetry Competition in 2019, and received the Best Female Poet Award at the KwaNdebele Poetry Awards. In 2020, she achieved second runner-up in the KwaNdebele Poetry Competition and was first runner-up at the first virtual Ndebele Student Association Poetry Competition.
Mnguni also participated in the Word n Sound Competition in 2020, and in 2021, she published her poetry in Loss-iLahleko (a national choreopoem) anthology. She has collaborated with local musicians, including a feature on Joshua Ncongwane’s song Awutjhuguluki. In 2022, she partnered with Lindokuhle Mahlangu (Lindokuhle Imbongikazi) to publish a Ndebele poetry book titled Amakhambo, now available on various streaming platforms.
